Meniere's Disease

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

I have Meniere's Disease and have had for almost 5yrs. I was first diagnosed with Bells Palsy and within a week the virus hit my balance nerve in the brain. I was out of work after the first diagnoses from the hospital because i couldn't drive, walk and extremely dizzy and nauseous. My Dr. here sent me to Birmingham, Al to see a specialist, I took the injection in the ear, medication, no salt nothing worked. All the while I could tell I couldn't hear as well. I work for 911 Emerg. Comm. and was missing a lot of work. So, some of my co-workers picked me up and drove me. Some days I could manage and some I had to come home. I have had all the tests, water in the ears and finally decided to have the Vestibular Nerve Section surgery. I am better but still have a lot of the symptoms and have since left my job. Do I qualify for SS and Disability benefits?

Hi there,
I really could not say as I do not have the medical knowledge to say, however you may be a good candidate for disability benefits. It might be a good idea to speak with a disability advocate or attorney, they can help you navigate the process and also fight for you if you need to appeal the SSA's decision. You can get in touch with one by filling out this form:
