Onset date refers to the date the SSA believes you began experiencing your condition. This date is used to determine backpay (if you qualify and for how long you should be awarded backpay for).
My status on line dated today 9/12 says under review. Went to drop off updates medical papers and was told they won't need anymore medical paper work? Any advice on what under review means?
Under review means they are still looking at your case a little closer I would get more med papers to them the more the better I had to go all the way to alj but I won hang on almost there
Great points Lyn! Many claims are denied due to lack of medical evidence. The more support you have, the better your chances are in showing you are medically eligible for benefits.
Initially when I applied for disability online the last said I could apply for SSDI as well. I see the status of my SSI (denied) but I can no longer see anything regarding the SSDI.
I went online to check the status it says today the decision was made n I was denied for ssi n then for social security (disability) it's appeal under review
A medical decision has been made and we are working on processing your decision. A social security representative may contact you or you appointed representative directly if we need any additional information or documents.
What does this mean? Is it good or bad?
Hi Joyce,
You may have been denied SSI because you exceeded the limit for income or financial resources. The other message just means they're working on your case. Hang in there!
Had a hearing April 10 an the website say my benefit is currently being processed no decision letter yet,MY attorney said the all said it been to long, when I called the office they said it's with the ajl...
My status say the following:A medical decision has been made and we are working to process your benefit application. A Social Security Representative may contact you directly if we need any additional documents or information. Just trying to figure out what it means.
It just means that they are in the process of reviewing your case and that they will reach out to you if they need anymore information regarding your medical history.

So I called my local office and she told me I was denied, and that she was going to put my denial letter in the mail. I then called SSA (the 1-800 number) and she told me that my case was still pending, that a decision has not been made..
Just wondering who to believe??
I am so sorry to hear that, I can't say for sure who's right in this situation, but I wouldn't rush to any conclusions until you get your decision in the mail.

Hi Leslie,
The SSA will generally send a letter with this information to you, it generally takes a bit for them to make a decision. Hang in there!

HI Cheryl,
I really could not say that "under review" is any indication about the disposition of your case.
