I became disabled in October of 2010 and applied for SSDI. I have been treated by my doctor every week since then and have retained an attorney for my SSDI process.
I have been paying in to the Social Security system for 38 years and am 55 years old. I had been at my last job for 20 years until I had to retire in June 2012 due to my disability.
During my hearing the judge asked the Vocational Expert if I would be able to do full time work in my present position and she told the judge that I would not be able to. The judge then asked I would be able to do full time work in any position and the VE answered no, that I would not.
My doctor also provided paperwork that stated that I have a total disability and could not do any work. I also provided a letter from my former boss who I worked directly for the entire 20 years stating that I was a dependable and dedicated employee until I started missing a lot of days during the summer of 2010 due to the start up of my disability.
I just found out that my case is with a Decision Writer and would be turning the case back over to the judge in a couple of weeks.
My question is, with my work history, age, doctors treatment and findings of the Vocational Expert, what would be my chances of being rewarded benefits?

Hi Ricky,
Every situation is different. Generally speaking, depending on the severity of your disability: the older you are, the better chances you are of getting approved, since you will have had more work experience.
Wishing you nothing but the best.
Would like to know the status of my SSI case and if I was approved

Hi Valarie,
We are not affiliated with the SSA or the Federal government so this is not something we can help you with. You can try calling the SSA at 1-800-772-1213, checking your mySSA account, or contacting your lawyer if you had one. Best of luck to you!

Hi There,
It can take up to five months. I'm sorry it definitely is frustrating. If you haven't heard back by the end of the month I would ask your lawyer to see what steps to take.
a medical decision has been made and we are working to process your decision a social security representative may contact you directly if we need any additional documents or information. Is that mean approved or denied

Hi Diane,
It just means that it's still pending and that they are reviewing your case. You should be hearing something soon in the near future.
What dose this mean, A medical decision has been made and we are working to process your decision. A Social Security Representative may contact you or your appointed representative directly if we need any additional documents or information. Step 2 of 3 process.

In reply to Hi I just want to know the by Amy Elliott (not verified)
Hi Amy,
We are not affiliated with the SSA or the federal government, so we do not know the status of your application. You can try logging into your mySSA account to see if there is an update or try calling the SSA at 1-800-772-1213. If you worked with a lawyer or advocate you can also ask them if they received an update. You should receive a letter in the mail when a decision is made. Best of luck!
Your Benefit application is currently under review for processing accuracy. Once the review is complete, we will continue processing your benefit application. This is what my online account said.

Hang in there! It often takes 3-5 months to hear back from the SSA.
