Hi Lori,
I am sorry to hear that. Sometimes a congressional inquiry can be very beneficial.
In reply to Hi Lori, by Eric
What's Congressional inquiry? How do I find it?
In reply to What's Congressional by Lori (not verified)
Hi Lori,
A congressional inquiry is a status check of your disability claim conducted by your local senator or representative on your behalf.
To request a congressional inquiry, you will need to contact your local senator or representative’s office to request that he or she look into where your disability claim stands.

Hi There,
I am so sorry to hear that. You may want to speak with a Social Security attorney or advocate. You can do so by filing out this evaluation form:https://www.disability-benefits-help.org/form/free-disability-evaluation
I received an approval letter at the reconsideration level, that stated my onset as 07/01/2017, but in the Appeals Council's decision, dated 03/07/2017; they stated that "If you file a new claim for disability insurance benefits within 6 months after you receive this letter, we can use 01/20/2016, the date you requested for review, as the date of your new claim. The date you file a claim can make the difference in the amount of benefits we can pay." Can anyone give me some clarity on when my true onset date will be?

Hi Calvin,
Your onset date would be 07/01/2017 according to the letter.

Hi Lissy,
It's probable that you will, as it usually takes over 10 months to be approved at the reconsideration stage.
Can you qualify for Medicaid or Medicare in you draw ssdi
In reply to Can you qualify for Medicaid by Anonymous (not verified)
Hi There,
SSDI recipients are eligible for Medicare after two years. For Medicaid, there usually is no waiting period. In most cases, once you are approved you should be enrolled in Medicaid.
I have my review. The problem is, I never see doctors or receive treatment. I am autistic.
No one takes Medicaid or Medicare. I can't drive. I live in a town of 2,000 people. I don't even think there are any clinics in town.
Also, I am autistic! I can't go out and talk to people. How do they expect me to seek treatment, when my condition prevents it?
But it basically says, the rule is, they will look at my treatment for the past year, and see if I have improved or not.
There is not even treatment for autism!
Yet I am on a 3 year review schedule. That means they hope my condition improves? How? What will happen? What will I do?

Hi Bob,
I would recommend speaking with a doctor if you can. The more medical evidence you have of your condition, the better your chances are of winning your claim.
I was denied in July 2017. I did an reconsideration on my ss claim August 2027 and still no answer. I have Congested Heart Failure and RA.

Hi Jeanette,
I am sorry to hear that. It can be a very long process. I would recommend being pro-active and regularly check the status of your account.
