This past week I was admitted into the hospital because I was vomiting an excessive amount of blood. I came to learn I have cirrhosis of the liver (due to alcohol consumption even though I was only a social drinker and stuck mostly to beer and wine), three ulcers in my stomach, one ulcer and varices in my esophagus caused by a bacterial infection (which has also attacked my lower bladder, causing frequent urination that leads to incontinence because of sudden strong urges to do so), and anemia. I also have thrombocytepenia, which I was diagnosed with last year. My spleen is enlarged and is eating up my platelets. I have chronic gastritis, which I was diagnosed with roughly three years ago. During my hospital stay I received a 3-pint blood transfusion and a platelet transfusion. I also suffer from anxiety disorder, which I was diagnosed with last year. I often have panic attacks--am prone to fainting, cold sweats, trouble breathing, nausea, the shakes, and mental paralysis. I suffer from pangs of an impending fear of doom and hopelessness.
I am often tired and weak and sleep too much. I also have frequent and excruciatingly painful muscle spasms. I have often had to call out sick from work frequently and much more so recently, in the past because I couldn't handle the physical demands.
Would I be eligible for SSDI for at least a year? I need to be able to address my issues and see my multiple doctors several times a week so that I can work my way to becoming well, again.
