My daughter (10 months old tomorrow) was born with Spina Bifida. The location of her defect is around the L4. So she has Myelomeningocele with an Arnold Chiari II malformation which is causing hydrocephalus. She has a VP Shunt in for the hydrocephalus. She also has right kidney reflux at level 4, she is unable to void on her own so she is catheterized every 4 hours and is on 2 medications for both of these problems. One to help her bladder be less rigid and the other to prevent kidney and bladder infections. She receives PT twice a month and OT will be added very soon. I do therapy for her everyday for her legs and some other exercises to help with her motor development. She has an AFO for her left ankle. We are also monitoring the angle of her left hip to see if she will need another surgery to fix that. We have now started to discuss the possibility of a wheelchair.
This is all I can think of at the moment but to me, so far, she certainly appears to qualify.
