Trust money repayment

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

I set up a trust for my son a few years ago. His cousins will be in charge of it after our death. The lawyer who set this up said any money he uses must be payed back to the account. If his cousin buys him a chair for instance he must repay that amount back. I have tried to look up about this but nothing I find says it needs to be payed back like this. He is on ssi and Medicaid. Thank you for any help you can give.

Hi There,
I'm not exactly sure how that would work, I do know that some trusts are not counted as a resource for the purposes of calculating SSI benefits, but as far as repaying the trust, I wouldn't be able to say if that is a standard practice for those types of trusts.
