I have children and their father has recently went for a hearing is waiting on a decision. I was told that the kids will qualify for benefits. I have several questions.
How is the amount determined?
What are the rules for the cutoff age to recieve benefits?
Do the children recieve back pay as well?
What steps if any do I need to take to set up their case?
If a child is 18 but still in high school do they qualify, and for how long?

SSI benefits do not affect taxes.
I have a question, I was approved in December for my disability. I have full custody of my nephew, and I was wondering could he draw off of me being that I have full custody of him?

He cannot. This will only happen if you legally adopt him.

Not necessarily. It will just need to be someone who has a close contact to your life. This is most often a relative, but some people have non-relatives become a payee too.
I have full custody of my 8 year old and my ex just has been approved for SSDI benefits. She is receiving a "back time" payment and I was wondering a couple of things
1) Will she receive benefits
2) Can she also receive a lump sum back time payment?

Hi JB,
Her back pay will likely come in three installments, each one 6 months apart. If she's getting back pay, then she will definitely be receiving SSI benefits.
A nine year old kid mother know who the biological father is but getting disability check from another man is that fraud.

Hi I need to ask a question and maybe get some advice because I have no idea what to do. My teenage daughter(16) ran away a couple of weeks ago and has been residing with her girlfriend and her mother and stepfather (I don't speak to neither one, (both on disability)). My daughter recently has asked me to give her her health card so her friends mom can put her on her disability benefits. Is this possible????? Can this woman just take any person and add them to their disability cheques???? Do I have any say in the matter? I just don't understand how this works. I didn't think that u could just pick any Tom dick or Harry off the street and throw them on your disability. ANY ADVICE would be GREATLY appreciated.

They cannot, unless their parents are deceased or disabled, or unless you legally adopted them.
I just got granted permanent / full disability. I am married with two teenagers and my husband now has to be with me full time. Is he eligible to draw any type of income and if so what percentage? And what percentage would each of my children be eligible to receive? They will both be out of school in two years. Will my husbands percentage change then?

Hi Teresa,
Your husband will not be able to receive any benefits. This is because SS benefits are for people with disabilities, not caretakers. Your children could be eligible for up to 50% of your benefits if they are under age 18, however.

No, your child will not be entitled to any benefits.
My kids receive ssi disability and live with me. I do not work. Their dad wants to claim them on his taxes. Will that affect my kids ssi?

My daughter was diagnosed with autism when she was 4 years old, she is now 16. She received benefits for about 1 year and a 1/2 (when she was in elementary), some of which they want me to pay back now. I reapplied last year and was denied because of resources, even after the appeal. My ex husband and I own 2 houses, but I live in one- we have been separated for almost 3 years. Should I wait until I am divorced to reapply? Am I supposed to have nothing in my name to insure she qualifies? Does my daughter qualify for backpay? She has missed out on so many years of therapy and assistance because we have not been able to afford the help she needs.
Any insight on this would be helpful. Thank you in advance.
