If your monthly income does not exceed the 2018 SGA limit, then you should be okay.
My doctor took me off work for flare ups from an industrial injury. I am permanent and stationary and no longer eligible for workers compensation. Before I went off work, I applied for a lateral transfer position into a different state of CA entity. I have been offered the lateral transfer on contingency of my background check, drug test, and physical exam. Even though I am a state employee and it is a lateral transfer, the protocol going from one state entity to another is to go through these pre-employment exams. My question is, can I go to the pre-employment physical? My flare ups are caused from recurring movement of my neck which was injured and has a 21% permanent disability rating from workers compensation. So the preemployment physical isn't going to exacerbate anything. At the same time, if I can pass a physical for another job, it may be frowned upon why I am not at work. The new job does not have the hours of computer use that the job I am presently in has and that is why I trying to transfer. Can you please give me your opinion.

I'm on disability but would like to work part time only. Do you suggest going to the work force department that TWP suggest. I'll never be able to work full time or make the SGA limit.

I really wouldn't be able to give you a definitive answer on that. That work department could be a good start though for part time work.
Receive SSDI, I make a certain amount a month from SSDI I recently started a part-time position making $10 an hour for about 16 to 24 hours a week. I’m not understanding this ticket to work program. I do know I have to go into the office and show my paystub‘s. What I’m concerned about is after nine months will they take part of my SSDI away. I’m doing this because it’s very difficult to survive with just an SSDI check. I’m getting divorced and I’ve lost my medical coverage. So I’m going to have to pay premiums. I am eligible for Medcare in December 2018, I am 57 years old. I want to try to have this job till retirement, as that if I’m there six years I will be 100% vested and receive a small pension from them. After nine months starting this job which will bring me to nine months from now will they start taking money out of my SSDI check. I’ll never work more than 24 hours a week that’s all the position is for. Thank you

You can make up to $850 a month, if you make more $850 you begin the Trial Work Period.
I read that if you wait 2 years after being on disability and work part-time staying under the $850.00 amount it will not trigger a disability review. Mine is in 5 to 7 years. Is this true.

Hi Patricia,
When you make over $850 a month, it is considered part of the Trial Work Period (TWP). You just need to stay under the SGA ($1180). Once you complete that period and/or make more than the SGA you may trigger a disability review as the SSA may believe you are able to work and support yourself.

Hi Tammy,
If you are on SSDI, once you hit retirement age, your SSDI will just convert to regular retirement benefits.
I have been receiving ssdi for 3 years now and have not gone back to work. I have the opportunity to work a season job from April-July. $10.25 an hour for only 10-15 hrs.per week.
I believe I fall under the cap of amount allowed to work money wise but wanted to know what the cap is for sure for Wisconsin. How do I go about letting ssdi know? My hours would vary, but if I know the cap, I can stay below it I am sure.

You can still work. Your monthly income just cannot exceed the SGA limit of $850.
