Hi Vincent,
We are not affiliated with the SSA, but if you're going to apply, it might be a good idea to reach out to a disability advocate or attorney. If you fill out the form on the left of this page or go here:
http://www.disability-benefits-help.org/form/free-disability-evaluation
we can have one reach out to you.

Hi Gloria,
You can apply for SSDI both online and at your local office, and you can apply for SSI only at your local office. To find a listing of offices near you, just click this link: http://www.disability-benefits-help.org/social-security-disability-loca…
how do I transition from working full time to not working under disability, as my MD states I should consider medical disability soon due to my chronic rheumatoid arthritis and the increased pain and challenges at work completing tasks as a nurse manager. I am having another surgery soon to fuse 2 right fingers due to deformity...should that be my start date for not working?
In reply to how do I transition from by molly (not verified)
Hi Molly,
I would pick a date that reflects these three things:
I wouldn't be able to say with any certainty exactly when you should stop working, however you would be able to keep working while applying if you are not able to earn over the Substantial Gainful Activity limit. It may take a good amount of time to have your case approved, and having a long term lack of income may be a hardship.
