Waiting for decision

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

I became disabled in October of 2010 and applied for SSDI. I have been treated by my doctor every week since then and have retained an attorney for my SSDI process.

I have been paying in to the Social Security system for 38 years and am 55 years old. I had been at my last job for 20 years until I had to retire in June 2012 due to my disability.

During my hearing the judge asked the Vocational Expert if I would be able to do full time work in my present position and she told the judge that I would not be able to. The judge then asked I would be able to do full time work in any position and the VE answered no, that I would not.

My doctor also provided paperwork that stated that I have a total disability and could not do any work. I also provided a letter from my former boss who I worked directly for the entire 20 years stating that I was a dependable and dedicated employee until I started missing a lot of days during the summer of 2010 due to the start up of my disability.

I just found out that my case is with a Decision Writer and would be turning the case back over to the judge in a couple of weeks.

My question is, with my work history, age, doctors treatment and findings of the Vocational Expert, what would be my chances of being rewarded benefits?

Had a hearing 5 months ago, was sent to the writer 2 months ago. Was told by my attorney that they will find out the decision at the same time I will. Does the attorney have access to a report or can they call the ODAR office to get the decision?

HI Jackson,
they may be able to find out as soon as you are, as the SSA has not yet produced a decision yet.

Hi Tyreese,
I could not say! It may be that the judge simply did not have any questions regarding your case that the vocational expert could answer.

We are not affiliated with the SSA or the federal government, so we don't have information about your specific case. You can contact the SSA by calling them at 1-800-772-1213.

I had a appeal hearing October 5 2017 ... the expert at hearing agreed
That I couldn’t perform work with my
Condition and missing 2 days a month from work ... I rectently contacted the office where I had my hearing in New Orleans and they informed me that a decision has been made .. and it’s in the writing process .. my question is how
Long does it take for the writing process

Hi Kesha,
I really could not say because the writing process can vary. You may receive the letter with the results of your hearing in the next few months though.

My husband had his last appeal hearing Oct. 30th and the judge told him he was granting his case, but only willing to payback pay till Sept. 2014. How long should we expect to wait. We are sleeping at different houses every night because we are homeless...

Hi Jessica,
I am so sorry to hear that. If were approved at the end of October, I'd expect to receive your back pay sometime in February. You might be able to file an appeal due to emergency need if you're homeless though.
