If I take out early retirement can I use my husbands even tho he has been on disability since 1996 and he is 65 now? Or do I have to use my income?

Hi Jody,
You may be eligible for retirement benefits based off of your spouse's work record if that spouse is receiving disability benefits or if they are themselves retired. It may be a good idea to contact your local SSA office, they can better determine your eligibility.

i understand what your going through. I have been denied twice, with even having Lawyers. The social security does not seem to care how much pain a person is in or even if they cannot do day to day actives. I gave up. I will pray for you.

Hi Jody,
I'm sorry to hear that! It's true, some cases may need multiple appeals to be approved.

my husband is on social security disability and our 12 year grandson lives with us and we have guardianship of him. can he receive anything from social security. His parents left the state and do not want him. They had a paper notarized giving us guardianship. The disability is our only income.

Hi Jody,
Unfortunately, your grandson may only be eligible for benefits based off of your spouse's record if you had legally adopted him.

My husband was approved in September but it never got to the right desk for the award. After our lawyer followed it and called, it got to the correct office. On Friday the approval letter came, but that they were withholding the retroactive and any payments until July of 2018 because of a previous disability where he was overpaid. My husband had a payment plan with them and paid on that for years without fail. The lawyer is upset this happened because he was sure they would let him continue to pay on his overpayment but give him the funds he is entitled to for this current disability, which is far more serious and permanent, according to doctors. We are going to appeal. We cannot wait until July 2018. Its bad enough that we went the entire year of 2016 with none of his income. What do you think we should do? Do we have a chance at this appeal?

Hi there,
I really could not say as I am not a lawyer and I do not know the details of your case, you may want to contact your lawyer again to find out what your options for appeal are.
