Mental Conditions

TBI

I had a tbi when I was 16 years old (1982). I was a three on the Glasgow coma scale and was in the coma for three weeks. I have subsequently finished college (2 degrees) but still have a hard time keeping a job because I have very bad short term memory which manifests itself as a decreased ability to learn. I have been seeing a doctor for my depression, social anxiety disorder, and short term memory problems and have told him about my inability to keep a job. I recently applied for SSDI and have retained an attorney.

Do I qualify for SSI

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

I have GAD over 8 years. I'm in college. Recently I was told that I should drop out. I was told my speech doesn't always stay on topic and is confusing. I never thought about it before until several people at school recommend that I drop out. Is this a condition that I can apply for SSI?

So if someone with a mental disability goes back to work

and they were not payee can they really lose their money and have to pay it back? I don't feel that is right. Doctors are to blame for misdiagnosing people, not the people. And when the government does this it shows that they never cared about the people but just handing out the money and hope they get caught for fraud. How is it fraud when you suddenly feel you want to go back to work in an attempt to change your life and no longer be associated with people who are on the bottom of the barrel? That life sucks for a lot of people.

I applied for disability back in 2011. I tried to make a go at working and was fired after 5 months. I have worked at over 36 jobs; the last 7 jobs I have been fired or laid off. I suffer from PTSD (bad relationship I am now out of) and with each job loss, I'm more devastated. I was denied initially, denied by ALJ but I appealed and granted another hearing back before the ALJ. I have a variety of mental conditions, lack of focus and concentration. I'm discouraged that my case is taking so long and get more anxious every day. Any one have an opinion or response. I would appreciate it.

PTSD Question

I had a traumatic accident falling off a roof and onto a driveway. I sustained a vertebral compression fracture, fractured wrist, and a fractured talus that made my foot dislocate by nearly 180 degrees (i.e. the sole of the foot was facing up rather than down).

She prob will be homebound again, as this dx is not something that just goes away. You MAY outgrow it at age 21 but most learn to adjust their lives around this.
