I've gotten married before and lost my SSI. When we divorced 8 years ago I reapplied and started receiving it again which I really need since I have 4 diseases and my medications alone are around $350,000 a year. I have met someone very special and would love to marry her, but I don't want to chance losing my SSI. I was wondering if we had a wedding, but didn't file for a marriage license if that would effect anything? Her insurance isn't that great as it is so if I lost my SSI and had to get on her insurance we would pretty much be broke or not able to afford all of my meds.

You may want to contact your local SSA office regarding this, as SSI benefits are income based, and it's possible for them to count housing provided for you or other in-kind support as income for the purposes of calculating your benefits. You can find a listing of offices here:
