I currently receive SSDI. The amount I receive of course was determined by my work credits at the time that I applied. If I return to work and do this successfully for the next 20 years, when I retire will my Social Security amount be re-evaluated to take into account the more current work history/payments into Social Security?
Hi there,
Yes, that will be correct. If you earn more than you did before your disability, you should receive higher retirement benefits. It will not be possible to work part-time while on SSDI and receive a higher retirement benefits--if you earn enough to improve your retirement, you will become disqualified from SSDI.
