When does my lawyer get paid?

I received most of my back pay around 12/01/2017. SSA withheld 25% ($16,500) for attorney fees, which they always do despite the fact the lawyer can only be paid $6000. My lawyer said that when they are paid their $6000 fee, SSA will send the remaining $10,500 to me. My lawyer has been writing to them for several months asking to be paid, but they still haven't been. Does anyone know how long it will be before my lawyer gets paid so I can receive the remainder of the 25% back?

Also, apparently my local SS branch does not know if the lawyer has been paid or not. Is there anyone I can call/email that can tell me when my lawyer will be paid and possibly speed this up? Thank you all.
