SSD will I lose my benefits AFTER my 9 month work trial?

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

Hello all,

I am on SSD and have been for about 10 years. I live in New York City and its expensive and hard to find a permanent job. I have recently found a few temp jobs but now I am at the end of my 9 month trial work period. I am scared to death and very confused. The temp job I have now is getting stretched out a few more months - but that would exceed my trial work period. I am making more than the SGA at the moment. Should I quit my job? If I don't quit will my benefits continue? If I stay the next few months and then get laid off will I not get benefits at all? I don't know what to do- stay or go? I don't want to loose my benefits because this job is not permanent but at the same time I want to stay because it might become permanent. Am I guaranteed the 36 month Extended Period of Eligibility? Because in the document on this website it just says if I make to much after my 9 months I get terminated automatically. Thank you for taking the time to look and answer my question- sorry it is so long.

Hi there,
You would be eligible for benefits for any month that you make less that $1,150 a month.
