Desperate For SSDI advice!!!!

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

I'm totally new to the SSDI process other than what I've learned over the last two weeks. My girlfriends nephew, age 38, was operated for a brain tumor over two years ago. It was found to be cancerous and they couldn't get all of it and he was treated with radiation and chemo. Seizures started almost immediately after the operation and were bad until a second surgery was done in February, Since then, they have stopped. Unfortunately he has Grade 3 malignant neoplasm of the brain with a median survival rate of 34 months.

Confused about total annual amount I can earn...

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

I know that I can't earn more than $800 a month for 9 (non-consecutive) months, but what if I earn $2000 one month and $800 several other months? Do I need to add up my total income for the year and make sure it doesn't exceed a certain amount? What is that amount that I can earn per year, total? Thank you!!!

Underpayments

Hello

I was reapproved for social security survivor benefits in February 2016.

In July 2016 I recieved my back payment it was supposed to be 17k but they only paid me 9k and withheld the rest claiming they overpaid me.

I appealed it within 60 days to prove the overpayments were not my fault, and they told me that they should not have withheld it because it was shown as having been waived.

Then they said they'd send a note of it to the payment center and they should fix it i.e. pay it within 60 days.

Childs SS from disabled father benefits

Here is the sittuation. In 2008 my estranged husband started drawing ss benefits and I was told that she (4 at the time) would also receive benefits. Well, as it turned out, my ex had been double dipping by receiving workmans comp. and ss so my daughters check has never been over $37.00. I was told by ss that the overage that he received is being taken out of her check. She is now 13. I did call ss back in 2014 to inquire when she would receive full benefits. I was told at the time that it would be paid in full in 2017.

SSDI: Multiple Return to Work Trials?

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

I'm 60 years old, and I've been on long-term SSDI for 15 years, and while my benefits are high, after I was forced to move to live on my own, I find that my income doesn't adequately cover even my minimized expenses. Yet since I (probably stupidly) signed a long-term lease, I can't move somewhere else without a huge lease-breaking penalty.

Found disabled for SSDI on first appeal, but they want a Payee

I was found disabled on my first appeal (a rarity, I know). I have severe anxiety and paranoia...as well as a bit of Asperger's syndrome. I basically can't be around people for more than short periods of time without going into fight or flight mode. Social Security told me I have to have a Payee. I told them I am more than capable of handling my own money and do not trust others to do so. They asked me to come in for a meeting where they will ask me questions.

Working & Medicare

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

Hello,
I have been receiving SSDI and SSI for about 8 years now, and I would like to try working again. I have a severe heart and lung defect with a pacemaker/defibrillator, and I had a stroke, which ultimately led me to apply for disability. I feel I may be able to sustain a job working on computers, thus, my question is, if I start a full time job and I make well above the SGA limit, can I still receive Medicare Insurance Part A and/or Part B?
