Should special needs trust be spent and closed for SSI to move forward? California

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

After 12 months, SSI eligibility has been granted to a 19 year-old but is pending starting payments due to Special needs trust(SNT) with 1500.00 funded by parents. Caseworker sent special needs trusts and bank statement showing funds to the regional department for a decision if funds were to being included assets ( even though they are not over the $2000 limit). It is now 15 months waiting, and multiple trips to the local SS office including speaking to a senior worker who spoke with a supervisor.

Move to a difference stage, change address and representative payee

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

I live in Florida and have SSI. My mother is my representative payee.

I want to move to Oregon and get a place with my friend and make them my representative payee.

I am wondering what I have to do and if this will be simple or difficult to change. I am also worried and paranoid that I might mess up and stop getting SSI from moving.

SSI for Child's Disability Backpay - How to spend?

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

Can anyone think of a way I can spend my child's backpay? She is on chemotherapy for a type of cancer and qualified for disability and receives SSI payments starting this week. However, we have $1600 in backpay they gave us last month that they are VERY tight about how we use. We can only use it for improving her quality of life or for medical needs.
