SSDI back pay for child.

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

I have a child who receives SSI and does not live with me. I was approved for ssdi and the family maximum will be offset by the amount my child receives now.

My lawyer said i will receive x amount of dollars in back pay. He said my child who does not live with me will receive x amount of dollars in back pay for the family max.
My question is this..
will my child (caregiver) receive the lump sum back pay for his portion? or will SSI take it all? I already know the x amount of dollars he receives a month will offset his ssi payments, im wondering about the back pay.

Wrongful denial of SSI claim(s).

If you lie to the Government, you will go to jail/prison. But when the Government, SSA to be exact, make up lies to deny your claim, besides hiring an Attorney, what other recourse could one take to fight this injustice? Another example, if you are late on any fees that are due to the Government, you pay a fine and penalties but the Government sure take their time in reimbursing or sending you a refund.

Can't get written decision so I can follow up

My April, 2014, monthly Social Security benefit was reduced by a certain amount without any written explanation from SSA. I have phoned numerous times since then to get the problem resolved, but am only told that it is "being worked on." I would like to present supporting documents to SSA why I think this action was in error, but have been told I can do nothing until I receive a written decision, at which time I can then appeal it in writing, but they have not sent anything. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I can get this resolved?

Child support and SSI

I am currently receiving SSI for myself. Does the SSA count the child support that I get for my ineligible children as income? I was reading over my packet and how they calculated my monthly benefit. The only income I see listed is my husbands. There is no mention of the child support even though I reported it.

I have only been on ssi for 2 years, I am a 54 year old woman, right now I am homeless, literally on the street, my husband whom was using my address and I did not know caused me to have my benefit amount reduced, thus I have lost my apartment and an address, a place to receive mail. the attorney who won my case is really not doing much to help. this started as I said my husband was using my address for his income tax refund, he did not trust his roommate and I really thought nothing of it at the time.
