If i'm on SSI and I was to buy a home with my mom who is on Social Security (both on mortgage and deed) and we were to each pay half the mortgage and half the utilities but other then that our food and other things we took care of our own. Would her paying half the mortgage and utilities count as in kind support? Or would it be treated as if we are renting together?
Mom deeded homestead to son 14 years ago, reserving a life estate. Mom is 75 years old. Son is 45 years old. Both in good health, live at the homestead, and likely will for the foreseeable future. Son is on social security, including some amount of SSI, and is on medical assistance. I do not know the amount of SSDI, and the amount of SSI.
The house is worth between $50,000 to $60,000, EMV is about $54,000.
I got my disability approved.when I was told this I was told I would get a ssi check on the 1st and ssdi on the 3rd. However I was later informed that it would take up to 6 months too start getting my monthly checks and back pay unless I declined my Ssi,and because it was only a small amount I agreed to not getting the ssi check on the 1st. Was this the wrong decision and can I get it now. I've been on ssdi since 2011.
My daughter has just been accepted for SSI and Minnesota has ABLE accounts. If I open one for her, can we put extra SSI monies into it, like out of the lump sum she will be getting for her first payment? I know she has to pay living expenses first but she will still have quite a bit leftover.

Hello. I started receiving my monthly benefits June 1st of 2017, but still no sign of my back pay which is substantial . I called the main SS office who said they would notify my local office and tell them I haven't seen a shred of back pay. I know they are extra busy and backed up, but I'm in financial need and it sure would help.
We lived in a camper while building a house. They okayed it. Then a year later changed their mind & said it wasn’t ok. I called our ssi agent & he said he didn’t know why someone else went in & decided it. She didn’t even work in his department & what we were doing is okay. He said he would check into it. He stopped calling us back. We received a couple of bills regarding it. Then we stopped receiving bills. Haven’t in several months. We are trying to figure out if it means they are not trying to collect on it? Are they going to take our tax refund?
My truck is falling apart. It's leaking oil and has other issues as well. I want to user my backpay to buy a used vehicle, but I can't sell mine until I have something else to drive. If I buy a car, that will put me over the $2,000 asset limit. But I can't even look for a car if I sell mine first. How do I go about doing this?
