End stage cirrhosis of liver (alcoholism)

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

My brother, 40 yrs old, is in the end stages of cirrhosis of the liver (due to alcoholism), with morbid ascites. He has paid into SS in the past but hasn't worked in recent years. Does he qualify with this condition? What if he dies before his case is approved? Can his wife collect what is due him, if anything?

My husband works, but he is very limited by his injury. Does he still qualify?

My husband has a spinal injury that he got while in the Marines. He is an assistant manager in a truck shop and works 50 hours a week, but is severely limits as to which tasks he can perform at his job. He has been passed over many times for jobs and promotions because of this injury. He has been declared to be disabled by the Marine Corps, but they only give him 20% even though some days he cannot walk or dress himself. Does he qualify for SSDI?

do other pension earnings get offset or disqualify?

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

If I start to collect on the pension earnings I have built up from a prior public sector job (i.e. from an early retirement pension) does this disqualify me from continuing to receive the social security disability pension I am now getting or is there any offset in the amount of my social security disability pension because I will now start collecting on my pension from the government job? I am in my mid 50s and became disabled years while working in my private sector job and years after I stopped working in the government job.

My mom is 70.5 years old. For the past 10 years she has been receiving workmans comp disability payments from State Fund. Her benefits just run out and it was a significant portion of her income. Can she now apply for SSDI and get some benefits there? She is determined 75% disabled. Please help.

insufficient work credits because I was a full time student

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

I don't qualify supposedly due to insufficient work credits. I was a full time student for nearly 6 years and only worked during summer so no work credits. I was forced to stop my education in part due to Rheumatoid Arthritis ( didn't know what was wrong with me at that time) and have only been able to work less than a year of the last 5 years (left college 5 years ago). So in a nutshell I have almost no work credits. I am only 49 so I don't qualify for the other type of benefit either.

Born with the disability

My brother is 26 and has asperger's and depression. I am trying to help him get qualified for anything that can help him financially since he has a hard time keeping or even finding a full time job. Does anyone know if he will qualify and how to get there? It seems to be very difficult to figure out what needs to be done and what the best steps to take for him.
