I recently had to have back surgery to fix a ruptured disc and remove scar tissue. I have been off of work since July 3, 2011, I have no insurance and no income. Do I qualify for any assistance?

denied disability

I was approved by Montgomery, AL Social Security for Disability. However, when Birmingham social security sent me my letter they denied benefits because they say I don't have enough work credits. I have worked 44 years and earned 53 work credits in that time. However, I have not worked in 2009 or 2010 because I was very sick and in Feb 2011 I fiynd out I had a Brain tumor which was removed and has since come back. It is the recurring kind. Birmingham SS says I have to have 4 work credits in the past 10 years.

Can a FERS employee remain on postal service rolls in an LWOP status and draw SS Disability Benefits.

I am a FERS employee currently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and have been using personal leave. I will shortly run out of personal leave...i am considering applying for SS disability, but wish to remain on the postal service rolls in order to provide the most benefits to my family...does anyone know if there is a restriction with SS? I have already contacted OPM and they advised it is not a postal service issue.

I've had a bad back for years resulting in a herniated disc that lead to two lower back surgeries.the were caused by work injuries in the constr. field for 30 yrs. Then 2 yrs. ago i developed blood clots in my rite leg and multiple clots in my lungs. This along with 5 or 6 severe auto accidents have resulted in alot of leg pain and bad muscle cramps in both legs. While i was in the hospital for the clots i was tested for sleep apnea and was told i hed a severe case of that too.I've been told by family and friends that i will have very good chances of getting approved ???

I have had migraine headaches for the last 37 years with every treatment imaginable, none which have worked, and I am now receiving botox injecions for the migraines and botox for cervical dystonia. I have had fibromyalgia and osteo arthritis for the last several years, and take welbutrin for anxiety, stress, and adderall for add. In great shape right? All the things are documented thru my doctors, with x-rays, treatments, medications given, what worked and didnt. Do you think I will qualify for disability? havent been able to do any
daycare for the last 6 mths or so.

Nonmedical Requirements

What are nonmedical requirements?? If you qualify with all your medical and can't work because of all of your medical problems and you have records and tests doctors notes and all things needed to back all that up nothing else should matter. I have never heard of nonmedical requirements.
