Medical Approved, but now back to State???

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

Hi, I just found out my medical portion has been approved. I had to call directly in to speak to someone as my online status changed and it did not make sense. So the lady told me I have been approved medically, this sounded terrific to me! She then told me it is now back with my state (Ohio) to review something that sounded financial related. Basically all she really said is that they have to double check that I am not working still. Well, I am not and have not been working, so since my medical has been approved doesn't it sound like a done deal?

Can I switch from SSI to SSDI?

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

I'm legally blind and receive SSI because I became disabled before I had any work credits. I've been self-employed since 2012 and believe I'll have enough credits for my age soon. Once I get enough credits for my age, can I switch from SSI to SSDI as long as my earnings don't exceed the limit for SSDI eligibility?

Should I apply? Opinions appreciated.

I am thinking about applying, but everyone keeps telling me there is no need because disability is too hard to get. I have Mitral Valve Prolapse, Interstitial Cystitis, Sjogren's Syndrome that affects multiple organs, Degenerative Arthritis, Reactive Hypoglycemia, Fibromyalgia, Hypothyroidism, TMJ, Spondylosis, and Spondylolisthesis (with spinal cord damage). I work part-time now in a business that I own, but when my Sjogren’s flares up, I am down several weeks at a time. I know it takes a long time to get approved for disability.

I was sent to prison at an early age of 15, spent several years in solitary confinement while I was first incarcerated, my life has been in shambles ever since release, I cannot function in normal day life activities, cannot hold a solid long term job due to my background, I have sleep issues and trust issues, before I went to prison at age 15 I was in and out of reform schools and juvenile detention for my entire life, my father went to prison when I was 4 and spent 30 yrs in jail as well. I need help and don't know where to start, and advice would be greatly appreciated.
