I became disabled in October of 2010 and applied for SSDI. I have been treated by my doctor every week since then and have retained an attorney for my SSDI process.
I have been paying in to the Social Security system for 38 years and am 55 years old. I had been at my last job for 20 years until I had to retire in June 2012 due to my disability.
During my hearing the judge asked the Vocational Expert if I would be able to do full time work in my present position and she told the judge that I would not be able to. The judge then asked I would be able to do full time work in any position and the VE answered no, that I would not.
My doctor also provided paperwork that stated that I have a total disability and could not do any work. I also provided a letter from my former boss who I worked directly for the entire 20 years stating that I was a dependable and dedicated employee until I started missing a lot of days during the summer of 2010 due to the start up of my disability.
I just found out that my case is with a Decision Writer and would be turning the case back over to the judge in a couple of weeks.
My question is, with my work history, age, doctors treatment and findings of the Vocational Expert, what would be my chances of being rewarded benefits?
Hello.

HI there,
They may just want to double-check your information.
I wanted 2 or 3 years to get a court date and I finally went in front of judge on Aug. 30, 2017 I called at beginning of November 2017and they said they haven't made a decision and that the judge has had my file on his desk since Sept 12, 2017. I called my lawyer on the 16th and that lady said something about writing and when I asked what that meant she changed her words to no decision it's pending. So on the following Friday I call the ss office and they told me it was same as when I checked a few days ago. I told them what they said to me so she explained that the
She explained the judge has made a decision and that it's being written up. I however have it had any calls about financial kids or POA. I do have a question where is the rep I would talk to about a dire need request.

I'm in NJ i have 3 kids and received foreclosures notice on my home, need to know before Dec 8 2017. I applied for benefits in 2013 still nothing tired of being told it takes long time, the attorney sent letter to SSDI for foreclosure. How long will it take to get first check if approved? how long for the back pay? what is process if denied again? last time it took 23 months to see law judge. I will be homeless if i have to wait again...

Hi there,
They may not have that information available when you call in, they may only know what stage your application is in. If you’ve been awarded benefits, then it would take about five months from the time you are awarded benefits to start receiving monthly benefits. You would receive any lump sums about four months after you start receiving monthly benefits. IT may be a good idea to speak with a disability advocate or attorney if you've been denied, you can get in touch with one by filling out this form:

I have recently applied for disability and need to add information about my disability, how do I do this?
I had a hearing on November 6, 2017 and the judge said he would make his decision on December 8. I have stage 5 kidney disease(Fisula has been put in), asthma, hs, amputation, hypertension and diabetes...Should I qualify for an approval?

Hi there,
I really could not say, but if your condition is severe enough you may qualify for benefits.
So I talked to ss guy nd told me my decision is in the mail it's only been a few months so I'm sure it's not good new right? I sent alot of paperwork almost a month ago. I thought it take more then that. Sucks because I know there gonna say no for the 3rd time and my condition is just getting worse.

I went to court to appeal disability aug 2 2017. My appeal decision went to a outside writer Nov. 9 2017. Was told there was a shortage of writers so it sat for 3 months in chatanooga, Tenn. ODAR office. My question is, can my representative contact the writers office to get info on how much longer it will be. The writer has had file since Nov 9 2017 and it's Dec. 12 2017.

Hi Leandrea,
You representative might have a better chance of determining when your court date is! It's a good idea to ask him/her.
Had my court date 9-15-17 called OHO and they said medical decision has been made and it was closed out. I asked the nice man what that meant approved or denied. He stated "your gonna have a merry christmas" I almost jumped for joy I fell on my knees instead. My case was marked critical. Although it took 3 months for a decision. My date due for backpay begins 7-1-15 to current. I pray everyone here gets the same results I have! Waiting for my money my kids will be happy!

Hi Deedee,
Congratulations! As your case is critical your benefits might be expedited.

I finally got my letter from the alj. It was fully favorable dated 12-11-17. The judge put onset date of Jan 7 2017. I know the 5 month waiting period would put me at July 2015. How long does it take to receive money. Any guess?. Being that oho said my case was marked critical. Will ssdi consider the same?

Hi Deedee,
Congratulations on winning your case! You usually receive back pay within a few months of your approval, so I'd guess March-April.
