I became disabled in October of 2010 and applied for SSDI. I have been treated by my doctor every week since then and have retained an attorney for my SSDI process.
I have been paying in to the Social Security system for 38 years and am 55 years old. I had been at my last job for 20 years until I had to retire in June 2012 due to my disability.
During my hearing the judge asked the Vocational Expert if I would be able to do full time work in my present position and she told the judge that I would not be able to. The judge then asked I would be able to do full time work in any position and the VE answered no, that I would not.
My doctor also provided paperwork that stated that I have a total disability and could not do any work. I also provided a letter from my former boss who I worked directly for the entire 20 years stating that I was a dependable and dedicated employee until I started missing a lot of days during the summer of 2010 due to the start up of my disability.
I just found out that my case is with a Decision Writer and would be turning the case back over to the judge in a couple of weeks.
My question is, with my work history, age, doctors treatment and findings of the Vocational Expert, what would be my chances of being rewarded benefits?

Hi Tking,
You may receive a letter in the next few months detailing the judge's decision on the case.
I had my hearing March 2nd 2016 its now August 28th and I haven't heard anything on my claim. I have major depression disorder, generalized anxiety disorder and schizophrenia. Im on antipsychotics and antidepressants. The ve listed 3 jobs I may be able to do. My question is why would it take nearly 7 months to decide when the alj has had all the rite documentation and they have my onset date as 04.23.04 could this be the reason I've been fighting for 12 years.

Hi Shonda,
I'm sorry to hear about that! The SSA may take time to deliberate cases, because they're so complex! There's a lot to go over in any one case and that may be the reason for the length of your case.
I applied for ssi for my son and a decision has been made I called my local field office and they say it has not be written up yet hopefully its an approval. Is it true that a claim sent bk to the field office is an approval

Hi Kristy,
I would not be able to say as we are not affiliated with the SSA, but you should know when the letter from the SSA comes in the mail.
Hello I had a hearing June 29th and I called the office to inquire about my case and I was told as of August 15th my file is with a decision writer what does that necessarily mean? The Vocational expert said I was exempt from working when the judge asked about my case. JUST CURIOUS IF YOU WOULD KNOW ANYTHING?

Hi Nica,
If your case is with a decision writer, they may be rendering their decision and you should know the results in the coming months.

Hi Crystal,
Don't give up! If you haven't already spoken with a disability advocate or attorney, it may be a good idea to contact one just in case you get denied again, they can help you with your case.

Ive been fighting since i was 17 and had many lawyers and denils i even wrnt to the highest coury u can go too twice id even had to close and restart my cases all over this last time around was the first time i got a female judge who actually did more for me than anyone else would and sent me to see a psychology appt last month and he said it was good news she sent me to him and he wanted to advocat fir me that i get it that i should have gotten it along time ago no doubt about it and well today i was told the judge made her final decision that it had been sent to a decision writer to finalize it and put it in a letter to send to me so im asking does this mean its a good thing so far everyone has lead me to belive that this time around i may actually finally be approved

Hi Javonna,
I really could not say as we are not affiliated with the SSA, but it may be a good sign that they were so willing to work with you to get the information they needed to make their decision.

Hi Javonna,
That's great! Best of luck!
hi,
i had a hearing with the alj judge on jul 21st. he wanted a fce form filled out, which i was unable to get from the physical therapist. the therapist did, write the majority of the information he wanted in the notes, that i forwarded to my atty. so he did not ask to continue it again. it is now with the decision writers. does it sound as if i might be getting an approved decision?
