I am disabled and going through a divorce after a 20 year marriage. Are social security funds deposited in bank account only under my name during the marriage considered community property in California community property state? There are a few other deposits made into that account that could possibly be considered community property but most of the funds are clearly shown to be direct deposited by social security for me

Qualification for Trial Work Period

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

I have been working for five months while I have been on SSDI. I have not reported it to SSA. I thought I had nine month of the Trial Work Period (TWP) before I was required to report. Now I have learned that I should have reported this when I started. Do I still qualify for the the Trial Work Program? Would I have to pay any penalties?

SSDI and being forced into Medicare?

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

Does one (like me - 52 year old) absolutely has NO CHOICE to stay in the Marketplace for healthcare insurance once it is the two year anniversary of the beginning of my SSDI benefits?

My limited understanding is that I have no choice. That once my two year anniversary hits -- then I will automatically, without any action or choice on my part -- be put on HIGH PRICED, crappy insurance -- Medicare A/B. My SSDI benefits will automatically be garnished like 150 bucks to pay for A/B. And, on top of that, I will still need to find and pay for a plan D?

Problem with dependent benefits under SSDI

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

I got married and lose my SSI because my husband earn lots of SSDI. Then he got 50% of dependent benefits for me and my kids under his SSDI. But one of biggest problem is that my husband won't share money with me because all of dependent benefits under his name. Im stuck can't go to store myself to buy something for me and my kids because I have no money only my husband has money. I don't like when he is being greedy and control. I wonder why not SSA put all of dependent benefits under my name not under his name??

I live in an intermediate care facility. I have Medicaid that covers very little of my medical expenses. I have been told that I can not use my disability money for any of my left over medical expenses. I can, however, buy a new tv, or new clothes or shoes, but not medicine I may need or dental work that I need that Medicaid does not cover.
