Employer contributions to 401k affect reciept of SSDI

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

Our son has disabilities and currently receives SSDI. He started working part time a couple years ago. Now the employer wants to fund 401k for him. He's being told if they do, that is an asset and would affect his SSDI status. He also lives in subsidized housing. Case worker said this could affect his SSDI status and also get him removed from the subsidized housing. Is this possible? He can't touch this money until late 60's and he's 29.

My wife had to quit working in 2003 due to her mental and medical health problems. We filed her first disability claim in 2003, and 6 times after that (all denied) until, in 2012, she was awarded a "fully favorable" disability decision by Social Security. But...when it came time for benefits/payments/back pay they claim she couldn't get Supplemental SSI because household income too high.

When a child turns 16 question

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

My husband has terminal cancer and is receiving SSDI benefits. As a caregiver to our daughter, I am also receiving a benefit as is she. I have just learned that as a caregiver, my benefit will stop when she turns 16. My question is.... Will her amount go up since I'm no longer receiving a benefit or does my amount just go back into the system? Thank you in advance.

I am the payee want guardianship lifted

My wife has been the guardianship payee for both my SSDI and my minor son's benefits. I am on SSDI do to Bipolar and Social Anxiety issues. She was appointed from the get go do to a horrendous gambling addiction. I have not gambled in over 8 years. My Dr will attest to this, as well as banking statements. I also need to know how to gain access to my son's already established banking account that holds the lump sum payment from when I was first approved. She ran through mine.

Hearing was a mess. New application, so does this application carry over the last hearing's mistakes?

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

I have gone all the way to appeals council. I had 2 crappy lawyers who didn't add my psychiatrist's records nor did they correct the judges incorrect ruling/disregard of another important doctor's records. I now am filing a new application. Does this application start from scratch? Or do I have to correct all of the judges mistakes from the hearing? It was a complete mess.

Disability back pay

I have a simple question.

My father-in-law's disability claim was approved. He received a letter saying he would receive about $34,000 in back pay. When he received his back pay check, it was only about $17,000. Should he expect another check eventually? If so, when?

Will Social Security amount be re-evalueated if I return to work?

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

I currently receive SSDI. The amount I receive of course was determined by my work credits at the time that I applied. If I return to work and do this successfully for the next 20 years, when I retire will my Social Security amount be re-evaluated to take into account the more current work history/payments into Social Security?
