Hi everyone!

My name is Deanna, and I work for Social Security Disability Help. I would LOVE to have an interview with someone who successfully navigated the SSA's system and is now receiving benefits. I think you would have a lot of great information to share with other people who visit this site!

If you were approved and would be willing to speak with me, respond here with the best way to contact you!

Thank you so much,

20 years ago when my daughter was 7 she had surgery for a brain tumor on the stalk of her pituitary gland which resulted in complete loss of endocrine function, loss of peripheral vision in both eyes, hypothyroidism, short term memory loss, and depression. She had growth hormone shots for years and still takes 4 other medications in order to stay alive. At age 27 she has tried to attain normality and has had about 8 jobs in the last 5 years all of which she has either been fired or resigned.

I was shooting off a firecracker purchased from a fireworks stand. Short fuse and exploded a c1-2 inches from my hand as I was trying to get rid of it as there were kids from the block right there. I have a ring and pinkie finger still in tack and can feel those 2 and move some but has pins from fractured bones cared for by Dr. Melford, orthopedic surgeon when I was brought in by ambulance. I am still in the burn unit and will be going home with the assistance of Home Health, and in 2 weeks when they take pins out of little finger and ring finger, occupational therapy after that.

MY 35 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER HAS HAD TYPE 1 DIABETES AND HAS HAD SINCE AROUND 12YOA. SHE HAS NEVER BEEN ABLE TO GET IT UNDER CONTROL. SHE HAS BEEN IN SEVERAL HOSPITALS OVER THE YEARS AND THEY INITIALLY SAY THEY CAN GET IT UNDER CONTROL BUT AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME RELEASE HER BECAUSE THEY CANNOT GET IT UNDER CONTROL. WE WERE ALSO TOLD BECAUSE OF NOT BEING ABLE TO CONTROL IT SHE WOULD SUFFER FROM BRAIN DAMAGE. THE EFFECTS OF THE DAMAGE ARE BECOMING MORE APPARENT NOW. SHE IS SOMETIMES CONFUSED, UNABLE TO MAKE A DECISION ETC.
