First, I like to thank members of this site for answering questions concerning disability.
My question: SSDI can be taxed if income is over $25,000.00 for singles. If i now get appox. $20,000.00 a year from SSDI and make $7,000.00 a year at a part time job will i be taxed on just the $7,000.00 or SSDI $20,000.00 as well?
Thank you!
I receive SSDI benefits and am eligible to receive either a monthly payout or a lump sum payout from my ex-husbands retirement based on our divorce. Will this affect my SSDI and Medicare/Madicaid?
I'm a 22-year old autistic and mentally and physically ill transgender man who has never worked. I get disability through the disabled adult child thing because my mom has SSDI and she worked as a nurse for over 20 years. I've been on disability since I was 19, and there is absolutely no way I could make enough money to support myself by working; I'm sick far too much of the time to be a reliable worker.
I think it's appalling you make cancer patients be out of work for 12 months or they can't collect SS Disability especially when you paid in all your damn life and never asked for help!! Being out for a period of time can devastate a family. Just one month can devastate a family. My husband has been out since Oct. 2016. He MIGHT be able to return in April some time. How can YOU justify he doesn't deserve SSDI when HE worked his whole life and paid in for something that is suppose to help him. Change the rule. It's ridiculous!!
On Nov 7,2017 I had a mini stroke(CVA). Went I went to return to work (CDL A Driver) I had to get a CDL Physical to return to work. The Certified Doctor told me that I could not get a CDL Medical card until I went 1-year without and episode. Please Help and advise.
I received most of my back pay around 12/01/2017. SSA withheld 25% ($16,500) for attorney fees, which they always do despite the fact the lawyer can only be paid $6000. My lawyer said that when they are paid their $6000 fee, SSA will send the remaining $10,500 to me. My lawyer has been writing to them for several months asking to be paid, but they still haven't been. Does anyone know how long it will be before my lawyer gets paid so I can receive the remainder of the 25% back?
I am looking in to moving from Upstate New York to Texas or Colorado. Will this change my benefit amounts? How do I find out. I know when my mother moved from Florida to New York it changed for her. Is there a "benefit calculator" that can help prepare me? I would like to know is for both states. Before I make a decision
I have severe lumbar spinal stenosis and have been on meds prescribed from a pain clinic for 10 years. About 2 years ago I started falling and have lost most of the feeling in both legs from the knee down. I also have Type 2 diabetes and profound hearing loss. I had an MRI and it showed my back condition is worsening. I had to stop work because of the pain and falling. I applied for disability benefits a while back and they called me to get a little background. She asked me if I was still suffering from depression and I said yes. Not terribly but because I can’t do the things I used to.
